ASIA PACIFIC CONSORTIUM OF JESUIT SCHOOLS OF EDUCATION

Upon the initiative of the Ateneo de Manila’s SALT Institute, a total of nine Jesuit institutions involved in teacher education in the Asia-Pacific are forming a consortium of Jesuit schools of education.

The different education deans and their representatives are set to congregate at Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from October 30 to 31. This milestone meeting will be graciously hosted by Dr. Johanes Eka Priyatma, PhD, who is the President/Rektor of Sanata Dharma and currently the Chair of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities in Asia Pacific (AJCU-AP).

The objectives of the consortium are as follows:

  • To optimize our network by sharing expertise and resources and by learning from one another, in order to make some impact in the Asia Pacific region in identified areas or fields;
  • To facilitate visits/exchanges of faculty and students, where needed or desirable; and
  • To organize collaborative projects (colloquia/conferences, joint research projects, outreaches, exchange programs, dual award programs).

The participants in the meeting will be coming from the following teacher education institutions:

  • Dr. Cornelia Soto and Fr. Johnny Go SJ (Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City, Philippines)
  • Ms. Maria Luz Badiola (Ateneo de Naga University, Naga, Philippines)
  • Ms. Renee Vieve Vecina-Kanindot (Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Zamboanga City, Philippines)
  • Dr. R. Rohandi (Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia)
  • Prof. Dr. Taro Komatsu (Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan)
  • Ms. Yi Yi San and Ms. Lay Lay Wah (St. Aloysius Gonzaga English Language Institute, Taunggyi, Myanmar)
  • Sr. Jo Brady and Sr. Augusta de Deus (St. John de Britto Institute, Kasait, Timor Leste)
  • Dr. Jovelyn Delosa (Xavier University/Ateneo de Cagayan University, Cagayan de Oro, Philippines)
